FAR/AIM – I highly recommend purchasing a copy of the FAR/AIM (from any pilot store). Highlight and markup the relevant sections. Use bookmarks to refer to the sections that you might need to refer to time and again.
- The FAR (Federal Aviation Regulations) are mandatory regulations that pilots must abide by. All of the current FARs can be searched for online at the eCFR website. A listing of the FARs that are most pertinent to each type of pilot certificate can be obtained in the front of the published FAR/AIM book.
- The AIM (Aeronautical Information Manual) contains highly relevant information pertaining to all aspects of aviation. It can be downloaded from the FAA website.
Flight Standards Information Management System (FSIMS) – Search here for interpretations and explanations of the federal regulations.
